Originally from Williamsville, NY, Dr. Edwards found fun and friends through playing basketball, soccer, and running track and cross-country. Upon entering high school, she began to focus on soccer and played high school, a premier travel team found in the Rochester Rhinos organization, and the Olympic Development Program (O.D.P.). She was a highly touted college recruit, before suffering an ACL tear in her knee as a rising high school senior. Despite her injury, she accepted a scholarship to play soccer at the University of Minnesota (Go Gophers!). As a golden gopher, Dr. Edwards was exposed to big-time college sports at a Power 5 institution and attained academic honors in the BIG10 conference each semester she attended. After her college career ended, she sought out a degree in Sports Psychology and landed at Florida State University (FSU). While at FSU, she studied peak performance and team cohesion. Upon completing her M.S. in sports and exercise psychology, she transitioned to a related branch of psychology – counseling psychology and attained a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Texas Tech University (TTU). She later transitioned to working as a Clinical Sports Psychologist at University of Buffalo, where she served as the first counselor embedded in the Alumni Arena athletic complex, and served all Division I athletes at the university. In 2020, she developed a private practice in the Williamsville area and has since had the privilege to work with several professional teams, including the Buffalo Sabres, Buffalo Bills, and Buffalo Bandits. While her story is unfinished, it has also come full-circle, and she feels it's an honor to serve the community that supported and developed her into a high performing and high achieving individual.
